-JDM ALLSTARS-Manchester Report-

The first round of the season and the first round of the Jdm Allstars series.

Some small changes were made to the car including sitting a lot wider and sporting some new colours. The reason for the colour scheme was in respect for my dear friend Tweenie Rob who sadly died in a car accident late last year. RIP Tweenie Rob.

Mechanically the car has not changed from 2009, only real change is the turbo that has been renewed by CR TURBOS with a Complete custom GT28R running WRC spec bearings and updated oil seals, both housings have been ported. This turbo was built to feed the engine of my Silvia with as much responsive power as possible as well as being as reliable as possible.

This set-up allows me to run a safe 250bhp…. Yes that’s right 250bhp… I do wish I had a massive budget for engine upgrades so I could run the dream power of 400bhp but thats just dreaming, but anyway who needs power when you've got a mega suspension set up thanks to Driftworks.

So the journey to Manchester began after a late night making sure the car had its pre comp bolt check and engine/transmission check. The car was strapped on to the trailer for its 200mile trip to the land where corrie is shot. J After 4-5 hours on the road we made it to the Trafford centre Manchester.

After a coffee with the boss (Niall Gunn), I went for a little walk to see the track, a strange asphalt surface mixed with some bumps that resembled BMX Dirt jumps along the run up to the first corner, into a long right hand sweeper to a tighter corner thought a chicane to a left that leads a wide line along a wall… We like them!

Well, had some practice in the afternoon as part of the media day, but to my despair I crashed into the first outside clipping point and smashed my passenger side rear quarter again, (for all of you that were at Wembley 2009 you'll remember I did the same thing up against Luney the loony!)

After 2-3hrs of my amazing pit team Evan Macer, Jared Tovee, Sam “The Guns” Ryan and lets not for get the Sprinter van. The car was straight. Many thanks guys.

Well for everyone that has ever Crashed a Drift car or even a race car its hard to get going again after the mental block of a crash, so after a few runs I was back up to standard…. Mint

So lets see what the next day was going to bring……….

Saturday morning, weather was good. Car was good. Come on! Cant really say much went down that I remember, like we had little pre qualifying session, and I qualified 3rd…………

Ant “random guy” Cahill was on fire…. Google him. Took 1st

James Hudson drove the sevenside import PS13 that Luke fink was meant to be driving. I heard apparently he could not find the airport in Spain, so he was late. Hudson, a great driver, got to drive for the first time in ages which was cool and took 2nd

The sun set and it was time to sleep for a action pack main event dayJ

SUNDAY!!!! Comp day!!

Well we had another qualifying session on the Sunday, went amazing and I took 5th place on that session, with a nice wall rub on the exit.

After the session everyone was put in to the battle groups. I was drawn against Brad Hacker in the Dragon RX7, this car is fast and powerful, so I gave it all I could.

Second run, with me as chase car, I made the school boy error and straightened whilst trying to keep up with Brad Hacker…………………………….

Damn that’s me out but I had a great day and massive thanks to JDM ALLSTARS for giving me the opportunity to drive in the best championship in the UK.

Thanks to my pit team.

And the MASSIVE screen!!!

JDM ALLSTARS PRE-SEASON WARM UP

Just a quick update from the my Warm up/testing day at silverstone on the 20th March.

The car was completed on the 18th march by myself, Evan Macer (Technical Manger =]) Jared Tovee (Electrical advisor) James Gillet (general helper) and Emily Villar (Girlfriend/General manager/making The Car Mint Manager) .

The hardest part of this had to be making sure the car met the professional Reg's for 2010 JDM ALLSTARS Series - a fine tooth comb was definitley needed ;)

A massive thanks to my Friend Paul Cartwright with the "towing taxi" for getting the car and myself there - made it hassle free for me!! =]

Once we had arrived, me and Ev set-up the boost on the car to 0.9 bar and got it ready for some laps.

I think the only words going through my head all day were "mental entrys". This was a challenge for myself which a few others, mainly being James Deane, caught on to.

After a few mentalish entries on my own, Scotty in the Rocket bunny S13 and I twinned , the only two cars twinning.... Sweet!!

The day went on with no hiccups, apart from one minor problem: Snapping the mounting of my hydro handBrake! Not a big deal really as it was good practice for me with out one.

The car passed Scutineering. :)

So i'm pretty much ready for round one now.

Full Build Updates to follow.

For now Have a look at the Motormavens Write up from my good Friend Daniel Bridle.
