The year of development**As we all know the 2010 Nissan Silvia S14 was always a little behind on spec of the field for the Drift Allstars series so we looked at getting the car more up to the ever increasing spec's of the rest of the field, i'd say my driving had out developed the car do it was time to get up to spec.

After studying many of the cars in professional drifting i decided the best thing was to start again, i have had this car since i started drifting in 2007 and the car has been though a number changes, but nothing like this, for the people who followed the build on facebook and twitter you would have seen me and my good friend Jared tovee and my girlfriend Emily villar and her sister Gabi Villar working some crazy hours to get the car ready on a short schedule.

The chassis went though some extreme changes by Andy @ unit17 and Josh @ jjt motorsport we stripped it down to its raw metal and started space framing the front and losing wieght where we could, doors, wiring, glass, what ever we didnt need was in the skip.

The engine was transported to Garage D to be inspected for rebuild, Julian Smith and Martin Cooksey jumped on it and descovered the engine had suffered some extreme conditions, here the list of issues the engine had on strip down:

Camshafts damaged

Cylinder head Cracked

Headgasket Damaged (oil in water)

Pistons Damaged

Rings Worn

Pretty much scrap, but needless to say amazing as the car has been Driven all around England for 2 Years and Drifted professionally for 3 years. the engine was mapped to 300BHP/320LBFT Torque, but realisticly it could of only been running 240BHP by the end of the season 2011. it never let us down

So if anyone ever tells you that the SR20DET engine is not a good engine.. there not on this planet.

Every one has been asking for the spec list of the 2012 car so here it is.
We spent the afternoon exploring St.Julians and getting ourselves settled in to what would be home for the next 10 days.

Friday soon arrived and Team McQueen were in need of a vehicle and fast! Team mate Dan and I did a lengthy tour on foot of the surrounding area. We were in search of a vehicle large enough to carry 8 (We had in mind a minibus). Instead we landed ourselves an awesome Suzuki Gypsy.

After trying to read a map with no roads on it in a car with no roof or windows, we arrived at The Ta’Qali National Stadium an hour and a half later. The track looked amazing. The set up of the event was already beginning to look amazing. I had left my car in a car park in London to finally be reacquainted in Malta. She was extremely dusty and in desperate need of a good clean, not a Problem with the amazing FastWax from www.autobright.co.uk but it was certainly exciting to see her again.

The day continued as relaxed as it began. The amateur Maltese drivers were out first for practice. This gave me a chance to assess the track for its full potential and spot a few drivers who may be competition. Pro driver practice began at 6pm and continued through to 11.30pm. It seemed so strange to be doing practice so late at night under such powerful floodlights. The atmosphere was chilled and nobody was feeling under pressure. All drivers were awaiting the events of the next 2 days…

Saturday began with all drivers taking a sightseeing bus tour of Malta. We drove around some of the most beautiful coastline I have ever seen. All were in anticipation of seeing the huge billboards advertising the event. We stopped at Golden Bay, a fantastic beach with golden sands and the bluest of waters. I had an interview with Gemma Hunt for Togethia TV, in which she asked me about my excitement and expectations of the event and my thoughts on Malta as a whole.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VDZ7Ad0uEilKUNa6Y6H9esLSDA4HQJVo-dt43NEAAB69GJ9dIvxw1UnA7Kk3p5LZ5Qzxv7P-mK5uCFxLzd8vvHtVIxE0jLsPG1i6c5yNo9rt1vbZwSX5lWvXajoFxZTpK-TGLOGiN-s/s320/tour.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626124432070008018" />

We arrived back at track at 2pm, giving me a chance to clean the car and await my teams arrival. Practice began shortly after drivers briefing. Unfortunately, on my 3rd run after a pretty sick wall tap, the car started to suffer with lack of power. We tried numerous solutions to rectify the problem but to no avail. It came to my attention at around midnight that my second boost pipe from turbo had a tear, which resulted in the car losing boost pressure. On hand was Chris Cauchi, a local lad originally from Australia, who piped up and said that he had a puncture repair kit that may work. We agreed to meet him the next morning to give it a go. We also spoke to Zisco Pro fabricators, who told me that they might be able to get a hose match for the next day. We were all fingers crossed either solutions would work. Off to bed we went…

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit5k7gTqJkHrQlJKpsPlts8GeeNoQHoWuSg_kA59S7WEIbTA9FCPGKO9i1MaEU_YMcisT_mxB7UahDJqje37uRshvALj_N_ueHkiBD80L0SRv0j5AGirwm0Ez1IjqtISHa3HQA5kMOHxQ/s320/interveiw+hose.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626125110569735490" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447831880171181025.post-35643319243630567072011-05-23T17:30:00.000-07:002011-05-23T17:31:17.879-07:00**DRIFT ALLSTARS MALTA**
JDM Allstars Malta Trailer from Low Brain TV on Vimeo.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447831880171181025.post-54523361714825977142011-05-03T13:51:00.000-07:002011-05-03T16:06:35.223-07:00**Round One Drift Allstars Teesside 25th April**<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3P6JmOUSMP8A5M4OzsRvuSfJkG0ccxW-CLaK80KIyAIRReiW3fcc-T9OL1PLXL6-Ev3e7nD38pyuNClDbyb1__kQZnLygiahGwSc1xDWuuwYGUSGJ3107aX1LSbAzLJ1IX9mfELGvgk4/s320/run+the+line.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602622047425824706" />
After what seemed like an extremely long off season, my sponsors, my team and I set off on our longest journey yet to Teesside Autodrome. We left for an eventful trip early Sunday morning arriving mid afternoon. My sponsor, Rob Chillingworth, and I set up that evening ready for Monday, the first time I'd driven since Silverstone in September last year.

We were at track bright and early that morning to get the final preparations finished: The car was polished and I was eager to get going.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv0O90kAzkoZnuTDzZR-FcHXcnpWbLIiqR_gzNTjHehKzmL4mVntZ2J-TlnysWLzRGXYOIH3WheSNhfCG6xFjiddQ6soltghUfHZmLqwNBCSYHkVWI4UplCbXfr3l_NAWOL8j4cpFTlJc/s320/polished.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602620679384057074" />

Practice was interesting to say the least! I think it's fair to say I was pushing the car to its limits with my initiations in to the first corner. One of my ambitious flicks backfired, and I was informed immediately after impact on the tyre wall, "You were going at 78mph!!" That wasn't too clever! Bonjour whiplash! The trip back on a tow rope was demoralising and I seriously believed that that was it, the opening round was over for my team and I.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgCqDhXJEsaJOmi_sUF2MfPETtiUf-cqKN8jI6vpM-T-eZetYtIo7zdSWIqAQiWiOYv4NqrGl5LsCwLfPvceq22c2qUqTuBwdQz2XEPnnu8tt_vO2FoYr2cXKogYwaJzwBpAXS1q2H_pc/s320/crash.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602621221093397666" />

I got back to the pits to a flurry of bodies, all set on getting me back on track. I was strictly told by Mr. Jon Stevens to "Sit down and shut up" as I told them it wasn't possible, a hole in the radiator wasn't fixable. The determination of my friends/team was amazing! A clever use of a bonnet pin to plug the hole, and a trip to halfords for essentials and I was left gobsmacked. When I heard my car start from the other end of the pits, my heart started pumping for qualifying. They truly made the impossible, possible! Thank you guys!

And so, qualifying began. I had an extra practice lap as I'd missed an hour and a half of practice. I took the first run as a quick test to make sure the car was ok and off I went. My line around the long sweeper was perfect, and the small issue of a spin on the first hair pin wasn't enough to dampen my spirits or let my team or myself down. I was focused. My first judged run was pretty good, I knew I just need to tighten up on the hair pins, which I did on my second judged run. SHWEEETT!! LOADSA SMOKE!! =]

I managed to qualify an awesome fifth and was placed in a Top 16 battle against the French Drift Champion Benjamin Boulbi. This was a challenge for myself which a few others, mainly being James Deane, caught on to.

After a few mentalish entries on my own, Scotty in the Rocket bunny S13 and I twinned , the only two cars twinning.... Sweet!!

The day went on with no hiccups, apart from one minor problem: Snapping the mounting of my hydro handBrake! Not a big deal really as it was good practice for me with out one.

The car passed Scutineering. :)

So i'm pretty much ready for round one now.

Full Build Updates to follow.

For now Have a look at the Motormavens Write up from my good Friend Daniel Bridle.

http://motormavens.com/2010/03/coverage-jdm-allstars-at-silverstone/

And a Video from Scotty!!:)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447831880171181025.post-14498876282864064092010-03-11T16:09:00.001-08:002010-03-25T04:31:52.987-07:00The Silvia Is Alive for 2010Just a quick update,

Tonight I worked on getting the Silvia Running.

After...

- 3hrs of Putting back together what I had stripped down at Silverstone(thanks to the help of Evan, James and Jared) .

and

-2 Trips to Garage D...massive thanks to Julian and Walton for being legends and helping me out at this stressful time

The car is now fully running.
